This site is a tribute to Ken. He is much loved and will always be remembered.
Ken lived a long life of 92 years which saw many changes. For over 62 years Ken was married to the love of his life, Gay and as one friend put it, 'they did everything together.' He was a very dear husband, brother and uncle to his three nephews and one niece, and a great and constant friend to many.
Ken had been a very longstanding member of Berkhamsted Golf Club and his 'hole in one' was a source of pride and happiness, as evidenced by his 'one holer' tie! Gay and Ken enjoyed various holidays focusing on golf, for example in Spain with friends, and for some years Ken and some friends had an annual week's golf on the south coast of England. In retirement Ken often played three or more times a week and took his turn at being Captain of the Seniors.
Ken enjoyed reading, especially in his latter years, and he and Gay enjoyed Nadfas talks at Potten End and various outings to theatres and places of interest. Friends were always very important to Ken, and he and Gay were in two Bridge Eights locally and also held dinner parties for friends. He also enjoyed games of Monopoly on occasion and often won! Ken remained in close contact with his sister Gwen throughout his life and never forgot that he came from Somerset.
Before Covid Ken and Gay would often go down to the town to Waitrose and one of their favourite pastimes was coffee in Costa. For many years they used to have a Tuesday outing together to somewhere like Brent Cross, Gerrards Cross, Hemel Hempstead or occasionally further afield like Cambridge.
Ken was an inspiration and gave so much to his family and friends. He will be very much missed by many. May he Rest in Peace.
